The Forger’s Last Silence

In the rain-slicked alleys of Veridia, a fictional European republic, a gifted painter is hired by an insurance conglomerate to replicate a supposedly destroyed Old Master for a fraud investigation. He discovers the original was his own long-lost forgery, entangling him in a network of art dealers, corrupt adjusters, and violent collectors. As he peels back layers of deception, he realizes the only escape from the noisy machinery of crime is to stage his own death as the ultimate silent protest, leaving a crime scene that indicts everyone. A literary noir in the spirit of Graham Greene, where moral ambiguity stains every brushstroke and redemption is found only in oblivion.
