Novel Summary
In the fractured nation of Meridia, a disgraced detective, Elias Voss, is cast out after uncovering a deadly conspiracy within the Bureau of National Enumeration. When the state manipulates the decennial count to bury a murder and consolidate power, Voss begins a lone crusade of vigilante justice against untouchable officials. Each calculated execution is a step toward a redemption that demands the one thing he cannot grant himself: self-forgiveness for the death of a young informant he failed to protect. As the net closes in, his bloody path becomes a harrowing exploration of memory, guilt, and the impossibility of rewriting one's own history.
