The Lag in the Frame

In the tradition of Herman Melville's dark maritime allegories, "The Lag in the Frame" charts the psychological undoing of Jonah Cross, a stolid foreclosure attorney in the whaling port of New Bedford. To the world, his wife Isadora is a flawless domestic influencer, her livestreams a sanctuary of curated beauty. But when a dropped frame reveals a predatory gleam behind her screen smile, Jonah embarks on an obsessive quest into the abyss of their marriage. Each discovery—counterfeited deeds, vanished widows, staged accidents—doubles back upon itself, until all reversals converge on a single, paralyzing truth: the person asleep beside you is a leviathan you can never truly chart.
