In the drought-scorched badlands of the Columbia Federation, two fugitives flee a megacorporation that promised a digital Eden but built a surveillance hell. Elena Voss, a former logistics analyst fired by a biased AI, and Daniel Cross, the guilt-ridden engineer who designed its biometric core, carry a stolen data drive that can expose OmniCore Technologies’ systemic discrimination and illegal mind-reading algorithms. As a private military “compliance unit” closes in and their own lies unravel, their highway escape becomes a death spiral of paranoia and mutual destruction. The story probes the undigested poison of a society that handed human judgment to machines, where justice is a glitch and freedom is a desert mirage.
