Shadow of the Mob

In the decaying splendor of the Chu capital, a hard-boiled royal inquisitor arrives at a blood-soaked compound the morning after the Great Exorcism Festival. What is officially declared a righteous execution of traitors Fei Wuji and Yan Jiangshi soon unravels into something far darker. As the inquisitor peels back layers of collective lies, each crime scene sketch becomes an attempt to trace the shadow God left behind when He abandoned humanity. The investigation plunges him into a labyrinth of mass hysteria, where the entire city—nobles, soldiers, and commoners alike—partook in ritualistic slaughter under the cover of carnival masks. Facing a truth that no one wants unearthed, he must decide if a whole society can be guilty, or if some demons are simply too vast to name.
