A true-crime documentary filmmaker becomes obsessed with a charismatic Chinese livestreamer whose flawless persona unravels after a single frame of dropped video reveals an unexplainable cruelty. As the filmmaker reconstructs the betrayals, covenants, and murders modelled on an ancient Spring and Autumn case, she discovers that every reversal leads to the same abyss: the absolute strangeness of the person sleeping beside us.
