Memory Is a Liar

In the decaying town of Blackwood Creek, poisoned by Vellorex Industries’ chemical legacy, archivist Elias Vane discovers that the drinking water is not the only thing corroding the mind. Haunted by fragmentary memories and an obsessive worship of the Brimstone Killer—a serial murderer who terrorized the region twenty years ago—Elias begins to mistake the killer's atrocities for his own recollections. As he crosses the threshold from admirer to imitator, the boundaries between his identity, the killer’s persona, and the chemically-induced distortions in his brain dissolve. Each crime he commits rewrites his memory, forcing him to confront a horrifying possibility: the truth he clings to is nothing but a narrative stitched together by a damaged mind, and memory itself is the most unreliable witness.
