In 1978, at an isolated Arctic research station of the Federated States of Arcadia, the last radio transmission before a total communications blackout delivers a stunning accusation: one of the twelve wintering scientists is a war criminal who orchestrated the 1953 Volkovgrad Massacre during the Istrian Civil War. As supplies dwindle and paranoia festers, the crew resurrects a forgotten international tribunal—only to discover that the most dangerous thing in the frozen dark is not the blizzard, but the seductive simplicity of a convenient lie.
