The Broken Vessel

Words: 2989 · Source Novel:: The Interrogation Artist

Lin Han discovers that the missing mentor she has been searching for years was the Artist’s first victim, a “rough draft” she buried in her subconscious. Confronted with this truth, she publicly announces she will become the final subject to stop more killings. The Artist responds by sending her an ancient bronze stylus and a location—the historical site of the Man Chong interrogation office, now a museum. In a clandestine meeting, he proposes a collaborative final act: she will take the role of the modern Man Chong, and he will be the willing Yang Biao, so their suffering can birth an eternal work. Lin Han, her psyche shattered, agrees, seeing no difference between justice and the knife.
